Plasterboard budget in Tunisia: avoid unnecessary purchases

  • 06/10/2026

Measurements, board selection, framing, finishing and delivery: prepare a coherent shopping list for your project without sacrificing quality.

When planning a partition or suspended ceiling, comparing the price of a single board is not enough. Your budget also depends on framing, fixings, finishing, installation and site access. This practical method helps homeowners and professionals request a useful quotation and avoid unnecessary purchases.

1. Describe the intended result before selecting products

Specify whether you need a partition, wall lining or ceiling. Describe the room, moisture exposure, items to be fixed to the structure and your thermal or acoustic comfort expectations. The cheapest board may not suit the actual requirements.

Our complete guide to plasterboard in Tunisia explains the main product families. The final system selection should reflect site constraints and the manufacturer's specifications.

2. Record useful measurements

  • Measure the length and height of each partition, or the length and width of each ceiling area.
  • Mark doors, windows, bulkheads and changes in level on a sketch.
  • Check stairs, lifts and doorways to make sure the boards can reach the work area.
  • State the proposed number of faces and board layers, to be confirmed with the installer.

Do not simply deduct every opening from the area to purchase. Opening locations affect cutting and framing. Two rooms with the same floor area may require different material quantities.

3. List the complete system, not just the boards

Group your quotation into plasterboard sheets, tracks and studs or ceiling framing, fixings, insulation if required, joint tape and jointing compound. Include any necessary corner and connection accessories.

Components should not be substituted at random. Knauf explains that its system performance is validated with the specified components. Check the Knauf partition framing and accessories documentation and the technical sheet applicable to your project.

4. Separate material requirements from sales units

A requirement in metres or kilograms needs to be converted into actual sales units: profiles of a specified length, tape rolls or bags of compound. Confirm dimensions, pack contents and the manufacturer's stated coverage before rounding quantities.

Compare offers using the same thickness, format and packaging. Prices per board, per pack and per square metre describe different quantities. A compound bag's weight is not a universal coverage figure: consumption depends on the product and its application.

5. Reduce offcuts with a coherent board layout

Plan board positions before cutting and identify pieces that can be reused. An offcut may be suitable elsewhere if its size, condition, edges and position meet the installation system requirements. Filling every gap with small pieces can add joints and make finishing more difficult.

The aim is to reduce waste without compromising supports, fixing or jointing requirements. Have the installer validate the layout. Any material allowance should reflect geometry, cutting and handling conditions; it is not an automatic guarantee against shortages.

6. Separate materials, installation and logistics

Ask what the quotation includes: materials, delivery, unloading, carrying upstairs, installation, joint treatment and the expected finish. Give the address and access constraints. A total price is easier to compare when the scope is clear.

Your quotation request checklist

  • A dimensioned sketch and a few site photographs.
  • The type of structure and intended use of the room.
  • Special requirements and equipment to accommodate.
  • A preferred board format, if transport or installation imposes a constraint.
  • The address, access details and preferred date.
  • The required finish and services to include.
